October 2024
From the Pastor’s Corner
The leaves are turning. There is another storm brewing in the gulf and will probably have hit land by the time you are reading this. Autumn came to South Carolina with a ninety-degree day, but we have hope that this is only a reminder that summer is wrapping up. The days will become cooler and shorter. Fall flowers are blooming. Mums, marigolds and autumn lilies known as red spider lilies are out in full form. It is time to get your flu shots, covid shots and pneumonia if you are over 60.
Pharmacist John Floyd with Hawthorne Pharmacy will be here at Providence on Wednesday, October 16, from 2:00-4:00 pm to give your shots. All you need to bring is your Medicare or insurance card. There will be a sign-up sheet in the office that you can either sign up or call the office and have Cyndy sign you up for your shots. John will do flu, covid, pneumonia, RSV and shingles but he needs to know before he comes so that he will bring the correct number of vaccines. Some doctors say it is okay to get your flu and covid shot on the same day, but you should check with your physician to make sure. This is very nice of Hawthorne Pharmacy to offer this service, and I hope you will take advantage.
I will be at Montreat Conference Center for a Wee Kirk retreat the 21st – 23rd of this month. I hope to bring back some new ideas on preaching and teaching Scripture.
Blessings,
Pastor Alice
