From the Study...
Dear Friends,
We are at the beginning of that annual rush of events which, when they are taken together, are the ‘holiday season.’ In the Church Year, those days begin with All Saints’ Sunday, which moves into Christ the King Sunday and on through the Sundays of Advent to the day we celebrate the birth of Christ. In the middle is that one which sets out the spirit in which we celebrate the rest. Thanksgiving is the day we gather as families and friends to thank God for the ties of love that bind us together.
Last year many of us had to be separated from our loved ones because of the complications a virus inflected upon us. My prayer is that this year will be one where those complications are at least eased, if not gone. I pray that as you gather at the table to share the bounty of God’s creation, you will remember those who have been around that table in years past and who now eat at table with the risen Christ. Know that they are still very present with you, because love never dies. I pray that the stresses of the past 19 months will only enhance the joys of this Holy Season.
Many Thanksgiving blessings to you all.
Grace and peace,
Mike
