The Pastor's Corner
April 2025
By the time you are reading this, I will no longer be your interim pastor, but I want you to know how much I have enjoyed getting to know all of you. You are a wonderful congregation who love and worship our Lord God. My time went quickly. I can’t believe I have been with you first, as pulpit supply in November and December 2023, and then as your interim until now.
You are a wonderful church family. I have watched how you work together for lunches, Holy Casseroley deliveries, prayer concerns and taking care of the building and grounds and one another. The Session is a place where ideas are shared, and discussion occurs but always with a feeling of respect and love for one another. With that being said, the nominating committee is looking for three people willing to serve for the next three years. Please consider serving. This is a special time in the life of this congregation and leaders are needed.
The music program here at Providence is something to be envied by a larger church. You have wonderful voices that any choir director would cherish. The handbells and instruments are a blessing to all.
The Child Development Center is a terrific mission of this church, and you can be proud of all it does for the children in this community.
My heart remains with you as your search for the next pastor begins. God has someone special in mind and because of the hard work of the PNC, that person will come. Be patient, pray daily for his/her coming.
Again, thank you for accepting me as your pastor these 15 months. I learned a lot from you and hope I was able to share interesting ideas and information with you to prepare for the next stretch on your journey.
I’m closing with a prayer written by a local pastor and when I read it, it touched me. I hope you will find comfort.
Prayer is not an end, it is a beginning, and it becomes a rest stop along the way when the journey is long. Prayer can become that which gives everything else meaning and keeps everything else rooted in the One who calls us to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with God. Jenny McDevitt.
Love and blessings,
Pastor Alice
