August 2025

Dear Friends,

Schools in this district (Lexington 2) start back in a few days. Chancel Choir, also, will have Wednesday rehearsals again beginning August 6; we meet at 5:45 pm. Singers, l hope that you enjoyed your July rehearsal break. Also, we will not rehearse on the week before and after Labor Day, so we will not meet on August 27 and September 3. Then, we will be back into the church year months.

Instrument Group and Adult Handbell Choir will rehearse again beginning in September after Labor Day. Instrument Group meets at 4:00 and Adult Handbell Choir at 4:30 each Sunday afternoon except on Session Meeting Sundays. I will let you know the exact schedule soon.

We always welcome new members to Providence Musicians. Please let me know if you would like to join one or more or our choirs so that I can have rehearsal music ready for you.

Also, I want to let you know that the wonderful, gifted, and beloved Presbyterian composer Hal Hopson has died. He published more than 3,000 works during his lifetime. Our Chancel Choir has sung a number of his anthems. If you would like to read more about him, there are several articles on-line about him, one of which was published by the Presbyterian News Service.
