Music Notes
As we approach the end of March, the Lenten season continues with two weeks until Palm Sunday and Holy Week. This year, Easter Day is April 17. Of course, the date of Easter Sunday changes each year and is based on the lunar cycle. As I’ve written to you before, Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday following the first full moon after the spring equinox. This full moon is referred to as the Paschal moon. The equinox is March 21 (or, astronomically, sometimes March 20). This year the Paschal moon is Saturday, April 16, making Easter Day the next day (April 17). Ash Wednesday, by the way, is 40 days before Easter Day (not counting Sundays). I really enjoy that whole plan of finding Easter Day!
Providence Musicians are working on music for the remainder of Lent, as well as for the season of Easter. I hope that our special music and service music during Worship will assist and inspire you, and I hope that you will plan to be at Providence for everything.
Wishing you blessed Lenten and Easter seasons and a happy spring.
See you at church.
Love,
Donna
