Christian Education: Lenten Journey to Easter
It certainly didn’t take much time for March to get here, did it? There are many things to look forward to this March.
1. Ash Wednesday is March 2nd, which starts our Lenten Journey to Easter Sunday.
2. In March we will begin our Confirmation Class for our pre-teens and teenagers, which enables our young people to join in the membership of Providence. What an exciting time! I am greatly honored to walk this journey with them.
3. March also brings the beginning of Daylight Saving Time. Can I get an Alleluia from everyone who loves the sunshine?
4. March 20th has been designated as A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood Mr. Rogers Emphasis Day by the Presbyterian Church USA. Fred Rogers was an ordained minister of word and sacrament for the PC(USA) and is a notable public figure whose work around peace and reconciliation are worth remembering. Rogers was also a pioneer in the world of Christian education and formation of young children. March 20th was his birthday and the day that the PC(USA) has chosen to highlight all we can learn from his work. I would like to invite everyone to wear a cardigan sweater to church on March 20th as we celebrate Mr. Rogers Day. Be on the lookout for more Mr. Rogers Day activities at Providence.
Enjoy your March!
Blessing to you and your family,
Rosie Robinson
