Dear Friends, 

Please accept my deepest thanks for your participation in Bethany's Gift for 2025. As many of you know, Providence began receiving Bethany's Gift on Christmas Eve of 2009. Our daughter, Bethany, joined the Church Triumphant in October, 2008. She was sixteen years old.

In 2009, Marty and I met, gratefully, with Dr. Mike Bragan, Cathy Monetti, and Teresa Coles to discuss a possible offering in Bethany's memory. Having had quite a lot of experience with short- and long-term hospital stays in the past, my family and I know that there is a very real need among families who find themselves in the position of having a child in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Thank you for your understanding of that situation and for your help. Your contributions make possible a generous gift from Providence to the MUSC Foundation for use in the family room of the Children's Hospital PICU. (The Church of the Good Shepherd, my family Parish, also receives Bethany's Gift on a designated Sunday following the Advent/Christmas season.)

A letter we previously received from Palmetto Health Foundation states the following: "Every day, Children's Hospital admits seriously ill children for treatment. These children suffer from many illnesses including cancer, heart defects or injuries from accidents that cause terrible suffering and fear. Contributions help create and enhance many programs and services that will provide comfort and hope to these children and their families."

This past Christmas Day would have been Bethany's thirty-fourth birthday. Thank you so much for honoring her life and memory with your loving gifts and with this ministry to families of seriously ill children in our area.
