September is Disaster Preparedness Month

Do you have a plan if you and your family are affected by a disaster? Your plan should include being familiar with emergency alerts and warnings. Knowing what your shelter plan should be and how to evacuate. How will you and your household communicate if you get separated? Do you have an emergency preparedness kit? Does your household have an emergency preparedness kit? What happens to your pets in the event of a disaster?

If you would like assistance in establishing your preparedness plan for yourself or your family let Paster Alice Odell or me know. We have access to planning materials that we can offer as a special program here at the church for all members or provide to you individually.

How can you help after a disaster?

You can donate monies to reputable disaster relief organizations. Recognized disaster relief organizations

What does the Presbyterian Church do after a disaster?

The One Great Hour of Sharing special offering that is collected each year contributes to the work of the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. Their motto is Out of Chaos, Hope. There are various was that individuals can help with the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, volunteer, assemble Gift of the Heart Kits, and make financial contributions. Churches can assist by staying informed of the current needs being addressed by the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, assist with food security, or sponsor/support refugee resettlement.
