The Pastor's Corner

April 2026

With the warmer temperatures of spring, we can see the world becoming more colorful. The grass is green again, the trees are filling up with leaves again, and there are flowers blooming all around. It’s like the earth is waking from its winter slumber.

In the Bible, flowers are frequently used as symbols that teach us valuable lessons about life and faith.

See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you (Matthew 6:28-30)

When we think of flowers and their symbolism, we generally think about roses or lilies, but not usually the dandelion. Most people view the dandelion as a weed and spend lots of time, energy, and money trying to eradicate it. However, the dandelion carries profound symbolism and is a powerful reminder of God’s provision and beauty in the world.

Some of you have noticed the dandelion embroidered on my purple stole. I chose it because of its rich and meaningful symbolism.

The dandelion’s ability to grow and thrive in various environments symbolizes perseverance and adaptability. The tiny seeds are dispersed over a large area and the striking yellow flowers bloom even in the most unexpected place. This is a reminder that even the smallest acts of faith can have a profound impact, even in the most unexpected places and ways. The dandelion’s resilience also reminds us that we can overcome obstacles and flourish despite challenges.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)

Dandelions are also a symbol of hope and transformation. The dandelion’s transformation from a vibrant flower to a fragile seed represents the cycle of life and death. It reminds us of the temporary nature of our earthly existence and encourages us to focus on eternal life with God.

Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” (John 11:25-26)

May God continue to bless you and may you be encouraged by the evidence of God’s sovereignty and providence through the beauty of nature all around you.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Teresa
