Happy New Year 2023!

Advent —check! Christmas — check! Epiphany — check! What is next?

The Easter Season is next, well we have to go through Lent first along with a handful of Epiphany Sundays. Easter is April 9th, really right around the corner. Why is Easter so soon? The determination of Easter is all about what the moon is doing. Easter is always the first Sunday after the full moon that occurs on or after the spring equinox. The spring equinox in 2023 will be March 20th at 5:24PM ET which makes April 9th the date for Easter.

With Easter being April 9th that means Lent starts February 26th, y’all that is only 7 Sundays from now. It will be here before we know it.

Go ahead and add the following dates/activities to your calendar to be sure you are prepared for the upcoming season.

February 21: Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

February 22: Ash Wednesday Service

April 2: Palm Sunday

April 6: Maundy Thursday Service

April 7: Good Friday Service

April 8: Easter Egg Hunt

April 9: Easter Sunday

In February Providence will also be tackling hunger by participating in the Souper Bowl of Caring. Please consider contributing and participating in the special activities on Super Bowl Sunday, February 12! More details to come.

The beginning of 2023 certainly will be busy here at Providence and I certainly hope that one of your 2023 New Year’s Resolutions is to be more active and envolved this coming season.
