Christian Education: Children and Youth Program
The youth group had a blast playing in the Highland Games on September 26th. They had such a good time they shared the games with the congregation after the service. You all should have seen the smile on Jerry Hicks’ face when he flipped the caber on the first try. Who knew that Susan Coulson could toss her haggis without splitting it?
Several weeks ago I met with the youth and children and asked them how they wanted to meet this program year. I was very impressed with how our young people discussed the pros and cons of all opportunities; traditional Sunday School time, traditional Sunday afternoon, Wednesday evenings, and immediately after the church service.
The result of this great discussion was Sunday immediately after church --- “Providence Youth @12:12” was born. Our children and youth programming will take place each Sunday at 12:12 in the Old Fellowship Hall. I was sharing this news with a dear friend of mine and she said that it brought Romans 12:12 to mind. I had to look it up. “Romans 12:12 - Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Boy did that give me goosebumps. Isn’t this what we want for our young people? We want them to be joyful, patient with all the difficulties of growing up, and be faithful prayers. Please keep our new program “Providence Youth @12:12” in your prayers.
Blessings to you and your family,
Rosie Robinson
